Terms of Service
The terms for using PilotFox at pilotfox.app: accounts, acceptable use, your visitors' data, API keys and MCP, integrations, termination and liability.
These terms are an agreement between you and us, PilotFox ("we", "us"), for the use of PilotFox, the analytics service at pilotfox.app (the "service"). By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you use the service for a company or another organization, you accept them on its behalf and confirm that you may.
The service
PilotFox measures visits and events on the websites and apps you add, links payments to them, and shows the results in a dashboard, through a REST API and to AI assistants over MCP. The documentation describes what it does. We may add, change or remove features; if we remove one you rely on, we will tell you in good time.
Your account
- Give a real email address and keep your sign-in details secret. We recommend two-factor authentication.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for the members, API keys and connected apps you add to your organizations.
- You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract.
- Tell us at hello@pilotfox.app if you think someone used your account without permission.
Your data and your visitors
The data PilotFox collects on your websites and apps is yours. For personal data in it, you are the controller and we are your processor: our Data Processing Agreement is part of these terms.
You are responsible for using PilotFox lawfully on your websites and apps, in particular:
- having a lawful basis for the analytics you run, and giving your visitors the information your law requires, for example in your privacy notice;
- asking for consent where your law requires it (rules on reading or storing information on devices can apply without cookies, and features such as session replay or identifying users may need consent);
- not sending special categories of personal data, data about criminal convictions, passwords or payment card numbers to PilotFox, in events, traits, user ids or page addresses;
- answering your visitors' requests about their data (see GDPR-friendly by design).
You give us the right to host, process and show your data only to provide, secure and support the service for you, as these terms and the DPA describe.
Acceptable use
Do not use PilotFox to:
- track people where the law does not allow it, or put the script on websites or apps you have no right to measure;
- try to identify anonymous visitors, or combine PilotFox data with other data to do so, where the law does not allow it;
- send false, automated or bulk data to PilotFox's collection endpoints other than your own genuine traffic, or try to get around its rate limits, bot filtering or other limits;
- access accounts, organizations, sites or data that are not yours, test the service's security without our written permission, or interfere with the service or other customers' use of it;
- send malware or unlawful content, or use the service for anything unlawful.
API keys, MCP and connected apps
- An API key acts with the permissions and sites it is given. Keep it secret, give it only what it needs, and delete it when it is no longer used. Anyone with a key can do what the key allows.
- When you connect an AI assistant or another app over MCP or OAuth, it acts with your access (or the key's) and receives the data it asks for. You choose which ones to connect and are responsible for what you allow them; their providers' terms apply to what they receive.
- Use the API within its documented limits.
Third-party services
You can connect services that are not ours: Stripe, Dodo Payments and Polar (with a key you create), Google Search Console, sign-in with Google or GitHub, Slack and Discord webhooks, and AI assistants. By connecting one, you allow PilotFox to fetch data from it or send data to it as that feature describes. Their own terms apply between you and them, and we are not responsible for them, nor for changes they make that affect PilotFox.
Availability
We work to keep PilotFox available and your data safe, but we do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors. We may interrupt it for maintenance, for security, or when a provider we depend on fails. Analytics are estimates: ad blockers, bot filtering, opt-outs, Global Privacy Control and network failures mean some visits are not counted.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using PilotFox at any time: delete your sites or organizations, or delete your account in Account → Delete account. Deleting your account also deletes the organizations you are the only member of, with their sites and data; if you are the only owner of an organization that has other members, make another member an owner, or delete the organization, first. If you need help, write to hello@pilotfox.app.
We may suspend or close an account, an organization or a site, or block an API key, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if a law or an authority requires it, or to protect the service, other customers or the public from harm. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
Your data when you leave
Before you leave, download your data: Site settings → Import & export, or the API, exports a site's raw events. Deleting a site, an organization or your account erases that data from PilotFox's databases, and backups holding it are deleted after 30 days. If we close your account, we will give you a reasonable chance to export your data first, unless a law or the reason for closing it prevents that. The Data Processing Agreement has the details.
Intellectual property
The service, its software, design and documentation belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you the right to use the service while they apply, not ownership of it. Your data stays yours. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
Open-source components
PilotFox includes open-source software. Each component is used under its own licence, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences. The tracking scripts carry the notices of the libraries bundled in them.
Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have as a consumer that the law does not allow to be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill. These limits do not apply to liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will publish the new version on this page with its date and, for a change that affects you, tell you by email before it applies. If you do not accept a change, stop using PilotFox before it applies.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, contact us first at hello@pilotfox.app: we will try to settle it with you. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law where you live gives you as a consumer.
